A little bit about me and
how I work

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider as well as a member in good standing with the Ontario Society of Registered Psychotherapists (OSRP) and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD).

My approach is holistically oriented, trauma-informed and is designed to meet the unique needs of my clients. As a therapist I work predominantly in Trauma, Personality, Complex Mood Disorders, ADHD, Women’s Mental Health. As a clinician, I’ve had the privilege of working as a Trauma Therapist in the hospital and in intensive outpatient (Homewood Health), as well as in community care and private practice.

My hope for those I work with is that this process will help you remember (or learn) your worth, know who you are, know where you want to be and, to help you create a path to getting there.

At this time, I am supporting clients through virtual practice (online) and use a PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act) compliant program for healthcare providers (Jane).

Areas of Focus

ADHD

I am a Certified Clinical Services Provider for adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I work predominantly with women diagnosed with ADHD and are looking for ways to navigate the unique ways their differences create opportunities and challenges. I have special interest in working along side women who have a diagnosis of ADHD and trauma, supporting both the unique needs of neuro-divergence and the implications and intersection of trauma symptoms.

It is generally considered insufficient to treat only ADHD or, only Trauma when looking to alleviate or reduce the symptoms experienced by many where both issues are present; and often times, this is what creates a challenge in care or might look like treatment resistant disorders  “I’ve tried therapy, it doesn’t work”.

As a therapist, I focus on Trauma and ADHD; as well as how an individual experiences their life. I work collaboratively with my clients to create a treatment plan that considers the whole of you, not just what’s happening to you.

Trauma

A trauma occurs when a situation or event is experienced as overwhelming and what is considered traumatic, may be quite different from person to person.

Trauma may be something that happened to us or, was witnessed; and when what was supposed to happen, didn’t happen. (eg. the lack of supportive and caring supports; and emotional or physical neglect).

I work along side clients who are seeking treatment for unresolved symptoms related to trauma, such as:  Single Incident Trauma, ComplexTrauma (chronic exposure or ongoing), PTSD, Acute Stress Disorders and Dissociation.

I am trained in several trauma modalities to help support the unique ways that an individuals symptoms might present.

If you’re experiencing symptoms of trauma, seeking treatment is really important. Unresolved trauma can have a significant impact on our mental and physical health.

Mood & Personality Disorders

Mood and personality disorders are often deeply disruptive to an individual; can create a great deal of distress. Many individuals find it difficult to differentiate mood from personality disorders and sometimes, they are diagnosed together (eg. BPD and BiPolar Disorder), psychotherapy is often recommended for individuals whether or not medication is prescribed.

Many of my clients shared that one of the challenges with their diagnosis is that it can be difficult to have a healthy relationship with yourself and/or with others. Psychotherapy looks to support individuals with skills and strategies to help navigate and support you when it’s hard; and can also teach you skills to slow it down when thoughts and feelings come too fast, too intense and/or when your mood drops really low and its hard to find motivation to keep going.

Personal Growth & Wellness

It’s not uncommon for people to consider psychotherapy as a place to go when things aren’t going well. While this is absolutely true, it’s also a wonderful place to connect with someone who can understand what you’re experiencing, help you determine how you want to experience your life and how to create and cultivate it. The amazing thing about psychotherapy is that we also come prepared to help support you when/if we encounter challenges that require a deeper exploration and supports.
